    Currencies of South America

    There are twelve South American countries and one overseas territory (French Guiana) belonging to France. The symbol for the currencies are in parentheses, while the subunits of the currencies are in brackets.
    Argentina - Argentine Peso (${100 centavos}
    Bolivia - Bolivian Boliviano (Bs. or $b{100 centavos}
    Brazil - Brazilian Real (R${100 centavos}
    Chile - Chilean Peso ($, but with 2 vertical lines instead of 1) {100 centavos}
    Colombia - Colombian Peso (Col$ or {100 centavos}
    Ecuador - U.S. Dollar; former currency: Ecuadorian Sucre (S/) {100 centavos}
    French Guiana - Euro () {100 cents}
    Guyana - Guyanese Dollar (G${100 cents}
    Paraguay - Paraguayan Guaraní () {100 céntimos - no longer used}
