Australia's A to Z Coins
A couple months ago, Money & Geography featured a post about the A to Z coin "scavenger hunt" in the United Kingdom, where 26 coins were issued with designs representing each letter. AUSTRALIA has added onto the alphabetical fun this year, issuing 26 circulating coins for the Land Down Under. These $1 (one dollar) coins are being issued by the Australian Post in conjunction with the Royal Australian Mint. There is a website for The Great Aussie Coin Hunt: https://auspost.com.au/great-aussie-coin-hunt. In November of 2018, the Royal Australian Mint promoted a coin-collecting program called Australia’s Dollar Discovery. Aussies received 1 million coins for each mint mark: A, U, and S mint marks (therefore 3 million coins total). Every coin had a 35 privy mark to commemorate the Mint's 35th anniversary of issuing one-dollar coins.
