    Azerbaijan Banknotes & Info

Banknotes from AzerbaijanI have 3 banknotes from AZERBAIJAN, where the currency is the Azerbaijani Manat. Azerbaijan is a small country located in the Caucasian Mountains, in Eurasia. The capital is Baku. The three banknotes in my gatherings are the 1 (Bir) Manat, 5 (Beş) Manat, and 10 (On) Manat. They are from the year 1993. There are redesigned Azerbaijan banknotes that resembles Euro banknotes (visit this wikipedia page to view them). In 1993, the ISO 4217 code of the manat was AZM; now it's AZN. For a larger image of the banknotes, simply click on it (opens in new window).
    What's On the Money?
The structure that is the 'centerpiece' on the obverse of all of the banknotes in 1993 is the Maiden Tower, located in Baku. To see what the structure really looks like, visit this link: www.traveladventures.org/continents/asia/baku2.shtml
