Algeria FAO Coin
The largest country in Africa is ALGERIA, located in North Africa and south of the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered by Libya and Tunisia to the east, Mali and Niger to the south, Mauritania to the southwest, and Morocco and the Western Sahara territory to the west. There are 48 wilayas, which are Algeria's administrative provinces; the capital and largest city, Algiers, is found along the Mediterranean coast. Algeria created FAO coins for multiple years and denominations, and one of the coins is in my collection. It is an aluminum 5 Centimes coin minted in the year 1970. On this coin, one side is devoid of pictorial elements, while the other side does have an agricultural and industrial design in honor of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and its mission to grow more food with the help of modern technology for the Earth's growing population. The years 1970 and 1973 on the coin signify the start and end years of a quadrennial (four-year) plan by the FAO to address its goals.
