Coins with Mini Maps on Them

    India 2 Rupees, 2002Nicaragua 5 Centavos, 1994Taiwan 1 Chiao, 1955

There are multiple examples of coins that have a map design on them. For example, the Eastern European country of CROATIA issues 25 Kuna-denominated coins that have a map of Croatia on one side. In my collection of coins, I have three coins with maps. They are from India, Nicaragua, and Taiwan.

The largest country in South Asia and home to over 1.25 billion people, INDIA issued a 2 Rupee coin in the year 2002 with the Indian flag superimposed over a map. The design of the India map includes the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep Islands that India possess.

Located in Central America, NICARAGUA issued a 5 Centavos coin in 1994 and coins of other denominations with a map of the country. Nicaragua is north of Costa Rica and southeast of Honduras.

An island entity striving to gain complete sovereignty from the much larger China, TAIWAN issued an aluminum 1 Chiao coin in the year 1955 with a well-designed map. The 2 and 5 Chiao coins also have map designs. Situated in the Pacific Ocean, Taiwan is east of China and north of The Philippines. Taiwan is still not recognized as a country by multiple countries in the world.
